Abstract Standard for roadlighting is very diverse. Therefore, it is impossible to meet all roadlighting standards in the world with a only one light intensity distribution. Also, it is too difficult to develop individual optical parts for every road conditions. Especially, it is more difficult in LED lighting than traditional lighting by material of optic and light source characteristic. This paper suggests a solution to make suitable light intensity distributions for many roadlighting standards by using some reference distributions.
