Abstract Generally, linear load and nonlinear load are usually used together. Since the linear load is usually composed of resistance and inductance, its power factor are not high. The capacitor is connected in parallel to the load in order to ensure a low power factor. The electric power conversion device is a typical non-linear load. The non-linear loads, the harmonic currents are generated in the energy conversion process. Harmonics current have a harmful effect on the power quality. So passive or active filter have been used to reduce harmonics current. Passive filter that uses inductor and capacitor are generated reactive power. Since the reactive power according to the combination of filter inductor and capacitor may be different, it can exhibit advanced power factor or slow power factor. In this paper, we analyzed that the combination of inductor and capacitor for reducing harmonic current is indicating whether a certain impact on the overall power factor.
