| Abstract |
MCCB is one of the most important electrical equipments for high reliable power supply system in apartment. Malfunctions of old MCCB(Mold Case Circuit Breaker) installed in apartment distribution panel may cause serious accidents, nevertheless, the performance evaluation effort of the old MCCB was very rare until now. This paper examined the performance of MCCBs used for more than 20 years by experiments. As a result, 14% of the MCCB specimens failed to pass the over-current trip tests and 11% of the MCCB specimens had occurred excessive temperature rise. In particular, it was confirmed that 50% of the MCCB specimens were broken in switching withstand test. The results obtained from the tests meant that the aging condition of MCCB used in apartments for more than 20years gets serious. |
