Abstract |
In this paper, the double quench characteristics and the power burdens of high-TC superconducting (HTSC) elements comprising the series connected magnetic coupling type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) using additional winding were analyzed. The additional winding of the SFCL designed with the different inductances, which was expected to be the effective variable design parameter for two operational currents of the SFCL, was constructed and the short-circuit tests of the SFCL were performed. From the analysis of tests, it was found that the instantaneous power burden in the second HTSC element comprising the SFCL with the larger inductance was reduced compared to the that of the SFCL with the less inductance. |
