Abstract |
Considering the influence on the operation and power supply of a power system, generator protection is extremely vital. Highly reliable integrated relays or IEDs for generator fault protection are required. While most of power plant protection relays in Korea have been dependent on advanced foreign technologies, the demand for the modernization and localization of switchgear is growing. Recently, the KHNP(Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power) has been conducting a localization development project of generator protection relays and generator digital simulator. In this paper, the hydroelectric generator control system of △△△ Power Plant was modeled and distance relaying was simulated using PSCAD software for a protection plan of generator IED design. Through the simulation, a short fault that may occur in the generator was analyzed and the performance of distance relaying was verified. |
