Abstract |
This paper presents experimental results of disconnection times of overcurrent protective devices and residual current devices(RCDs) for protection against electric shock. All specimens of RCDs satisfied the requirements of disconnection times of supply specified for protection for safety. The overcurrent protective devices connected to a branch circuit of 5m long not exceeding 32A were automatically interrupted the supply to the line conductor of a circuit or equipment within the disconnection time required for protection against electric shock. However some overcurrent protective devices connected to a branch circuit longer than 20m did not satisfy the maximum disconnection time required for a fault protection. As a result, it may be necessary to verify the effectiveness for automatic disconnection of supply to the line conductor of each circuit or equipment. |
