Abstract |
It is important to reduce the impact of lightning strikes because lightning can create overvoltage in the grid of the wind turbine and affect power quality. In particular, offshore wind power generators should be more careful to lightning. Because they are more easily exposed to lightning than onshore wind power generators, and damage from lightning strikes frequently. This paper is modeling a 2.5GW offshore wind farm on the southwestern coast of the country until 2019 using EMTP-RV. When lightning on turbines closest to the offshore substation, In consideration of the characteristics of the HVDC cable and the grounding impedance, a transient condition was simulated. The simulation results show the effect of lightning on the resistivity and reactance of the HVDC cable. And, It suggests ways to reduce lightning overvoltage when considering ground impedance. |
