Abstract Increasing renewable energy, ESS(Energy Storage System) and digital loads can be combined with DC Distribution to achieve high energy utilization efficiency. An emergency power supply system needs consideration to prepare power failure of AC grid due to the characteristic of DC distribution system connected with AC grid and digital loads. As the ESS is difficult to configure the emergency power supply system as a single unit due to problems of initial installation cost and capacity, it is necessary to review the application of the emergency generator, which is ordinarily installed in the commercial building by regulation. In this paper, we propose a system and its operating method that can stabilize the voltage of DC distribution in emergency situations by using the emergency generator. The proposed system and operation method are verified by PSIM simulation and experiment using 13.3kW emergency power generation system.
