Abstract |
In recent years, research on HVDC transmission has been actively carried out for Super Grid, which is power-linked with overseas power system. Therefore, it is necessary to study the failure caused by HVDC. If leakage current and partial discharge occur in HVDC power equipment, it will cause failure and reduce the lifetime of the power equipment, so much research is required. In this study, the partial discharge and leakage current characteristics of insulating materials under HVDC condition were experimentally investigated using the electrode structure generating surface discharge. As a result of measuring the leakage current according to the insulation material and calculating the resistivity, polyethylene showed the best insulation. In the case of partial discharge, the occurrence and extinction of the discharge was repeated, and the insulation breakdown occurred. |
