Abstract |
This paper analyzes and implements the DC trigger power supply for xenon lamp driving. The voltage multiplier circuit, which is called Cockcroft-Walton, is used and the output voltage could be controlled by the appling voltage of transformer, switching frequency and capacitance of the voltage multiplier. The Cockcroft-Walton circuit is proper to generate the high DC voltage of low energy. The high output DC voltage is easily generated by connecting series of the capacitors which store the certain voltage, and the amount of energy of the Cockcroft-Walton circuits is controlled by the used capacitance and applied voltage. By implementing a circuit with these characteristics, unlike an ideal circuit, the resonance occurs between the capacitors and diodes in the Cockcroft-Walton circuit. In this paper, the occurred resonance is intentionally used to increase the output voltage so that the number of used capacitors and diodes is decreased at the same output voltage condition. This concept is not only simulated but also experimented to verify its performance. |
