Abstract More efficient DC system compared to AC systems is receiving much attention as the increase of energy demand and DC load and the advance of power electronic technology. For the efficient operation of this DC power system within the limit of facilities and for the planning future power system, it needs that fast and accurate method to calculate bus voltage, power flow and losses. In this paper, therefore, the review of conventional power flow calculation method and assessment of the applicability of the DC system are performed for the calculation of power flow of the DC system. For this purpose, each power flow calculation method is modified considering characteristic of DC system. Finally, this paper shows the computer simulation using ElectroMagnetic Transients Program(EMTP) and MATLAB in order to evaluate the performance of the modified method.
