Abstract |
Recently, many researchers have been make an effort to apply the underground cables to HVDC system. To minimize losses in HVDC transmission lines, various studies including the application of superconducting cables using superconductor are progressed. If an internal fault occurs in superconducting cables, it will have random impedance, because fault impedance depends on fault points and passed lines of fault current. This paper proposed the method of Protection Zone to solve the problem, and performance of proposed method was verified by PSCAD/EMTDC and various case studies. Consequently, it can be used as an useful fault detection method for application of superconducting cables to HVDC system. |
