Abstract |
In power plants, three phase short circuit current of the high voltage system increased up to 50kA due to lower source impedance which is caused by the large capacity of generators and increased station power capacity. This means that arc flash hazards are much more dangerous in power plants than in general industrial systems. This paper presents arc flash energy analysis by using IEEE std 1584 and PowerTools that is one of the power system analysis program, and suggests arc flash hazard mitigation methods by advanced protection schemes of 6.9kV motors which occupy the most of load in power plants. |
