Abstract This paper presents a development of high voltage DC power supply based on the LCC resonant converter with small output voltage imbalance. Since the developed high voltage DC power supply adopts the LCC resonant converter, it can achieve high voltage gain by the frequency modulation and high power density by the zero voltage switching. In addition, by connecting the transformers in parallel at the primary side, the proposed circuit can minimize the voltage imbalance without any compensation circuit. Furthermore, the proposed power supply shows low conduction losses by the trapezoidal resonant current. The developed high voltage DC power supply with the specifications of 5kV output voltage and 1kW output power is verified by the experiments.
