Abstract |
As the amount of the renewable energy capacity increases, the variability and uncertainty of renewable energy is affecting power system operation. Frequent power fluctuations due to increased share of renewable energy may place a heavy burden on the power system, and situations may arise in which the variation can not be offset by existing power supply facilities in the system. To resolve this, it is necessary to increase the flexibility of the entire system through flexible resources that can regulate power generation and demand. In this paper, the variability of net load is analyzed and the method of separating into long and short cycle components through Discrete Fourier Transforms is presented to analyze the need for flexibility. |
