Abstract |
Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) has been widely used as an insulating material for a power cable due to its excellent electrical and mechanical characteristics. The XLPE would cause environmental destruction because it is impossible to recycle after lifetime of a power cable because of its thermosetting characteristics. Therefore, the development of novel dielectric materials which have excellent electrical and mechanical characteristics with thermoplastic characteristics have been investigated. In this paper, 3 types of non-cross linked polypropylene (PP) according to different heat treatment recipe in order to replace the conventional XLPE are developed and electrical breakdown experiment is performed and results are analyzed. As results, it is found that dielectric characteristics of developed PP are superior to those of XLPE. |
