Abstract |
Recently, DC microgrids with DERs are emerging for efficient distributed power design and operation. However, protection standards have not yet been established, and it is urgent to prepare a protection solution that can supply high-quality power. To develop speedy and reliable fault detection, this paper proposes a fault detection method using WBE (Wavelet-based Energy) for a DC microgrid. The target DC microgrid is a domestic 1500Vdc (±750Vdc) radial system composed of PV, BESS, and DC loads, and was modeled using PSCAD platform. In addition, the conventional ICCR (instantaneous current change rate) method and the proposed WBE method were implemented using the MATLAB tool, and the performances of detecting PtoP (pole to pole) and PtoG (pole to ground) faults were verified through various faults analysis. |
