Abstract |
The optical transmission system is a very important part of optical fiber-based optical band communication system. In order to enable smooth operation of communication, manage, and operate the communication system more efficiently, it is very necessary to use a dual mode optical transmission system. In this study, we present and analyze the differences in optical system implementation compared to the previous optical dual mode system. Also, we focus on the circuit design and analysis of a transmitter and a receiver which are important part in the optical dual mode system. In order to reduce power consumption and signal noise, we use a laser diode and its driving circuit in the transmitter while RF output compensation circuit is employed in the receiver. As a result, the power consumption is observed to be reduced by 50% compared to the previous works. Also, for a transmitter/receiver distance of 10km and 850MHz, the scattering noise at the transmitter and receiver is improved by less than 2dB with adding a dithering circuit. Without this technique, the scattering noise is normally about 7∼10dB. |
