Abstract |
We propose a Sagnac interferometer-based fiber-optic acoustic sensor (FOAS) array system to measure the ultrasonic signals generated by partial discharges in power transformers. To simplify the optical circuit and access multiple FOAS simultaneously with a single broadband light source (BBS), the BBS is combined with an arrayed waveguide grating, generating multi-channel broadband light sources for FOAS array. The experimental results show that the partial discharge ultrasonic signals in the frequency range of 100∼200kHz can be successfully detected with the fiber-optic Sagnac interferometer sensor in the insulating oil environment with a sensitivity of 5.56mV/Pa. The feasibility of partial discharge location is verified by measuring the delay time between two sensors, with less than 1% of measurement error. |
