Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze Roegner Bad Blumau with other architectural works of Hunbertwasser, and to derive
the characteristics of the interior and exterior space ornament of Roegner Bad Blumau. The results of this study are summarized as follows.
First, Roegner Bad Blumau has independent buildings that reproduce Hunbertwasser’s ‘Eye-slit House’ concept, which originated from mole
architecture, as well as independent buildings that embody the concept of ‘Rolling Hills’, which developed it. Second, Roegner Bad Blumau
applies keystones, which were most frequently used in all of Hunbertwasser’s architectural windows, and decorations around windows that
utilize the concept of ‘Window rights’. Third, the initial concept of ‘Tree Tenants’ linked to ‘Window rights’ declined as Hunbertwasser’s
architecture progressed due to practical limitations, but Roegner Bad Blumau replaces this with irregular vertical lines on the facade design
and mosaic decorations in the shape of trees on the interior. Fourth, Humbertwasser accurately acknowledged his own limitations as an
architect and actively utilized the participation of workers who participated in the construction as well as the architectural design, and this is
embodied in the irregularity of Roegner Bad Blumau's facade, decoration, floor, and bathroom. Fifth, Roegner Bad Blumau exhibits the
characteristics of most of Humbertwasser's architectural works, except for his works with facades with irregular horizontal lines. |
