Abstract |
Dancheong is a formative element representing the image according to the purpose of Korean traditional buildings. Pre-modern royal authority
and religion are the representative powers that organize national society. Therefore, the study begins on the premise that each building will
have different images. One is the rational image of the state and administration, and the other is the spiritual image of religion. By
comparing formative composition of palace and temple Dancheong from Chosun dynasty, the study aims to identify those two representing
image of the era. Head figure composition in Dancheong was suitable for the sample because it had standardized characteristics according to
the purpose of the building. The each sample group from palaces and temples are analyzed and compared with the difference in color
density, area ratio by color, and surface division ratio. As a result of this analysis, it was found that the palace and the temple showed a
big difference in the use of colors and the abstractness of formations. |
