Abstract In the composite basement wall, an opening action between H-pile and RC wall can be occurred due to the difference of stiffness of each H-pile when soil pressure acts on it. It means shear stress as well as bending stress can act on the shear connectors combining H-piles with RC wall. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the shear capacity of channel and stud shear connectors under both bending and shear stress in the composite basement wall. A push out shear test was performed with parameters such as type of shear connector, eccentricity, and the presence of additional horizontal bar welded on channel. As a result, all specimens showed to have 50% higher strength than the calculated nominal shear strength corresponding to current Korean design codes.
