Abstract This study explores the relationship between smart technologies and the stages of the preparation phase in the Value Engineering (VE) process, aiming to propose a more efficient operational plan. The study demonstrates that integrating technologies like Big Data, AR/VR, Cloud, BIM, and Drones can greatly improve the efficiency of this phase. The correlation between smart technologies and each stage in the preparation phase is summarized as follows. VE Team Formation and Location Selection: Big Data, AR/VR, and Cloud technologies aid in optimizing team composition and location selection through virtual simulations. Project and Cost Information: Big Data, Drones, and Cloud technologies facilitate effective data analysis, 3D modeling, and real-time data sharing for accurate project and cost management. User Requirements Estimation: AR/VR, Cloud, 3D Printing, BIM, and Drones are useful for extracting detailed user requirements and enabling real-time collaboration and feedback. Object Selection: Big Data, Cloud, and BIM technologies support accurate decision-making, simulation analysis, and efficient object selection. The study concludes that applying smart technologies in the preparation phase significantly boosts the efficiency and reliability of VE activities. These technologies are anticipated to become essential tools in future VE processes.
