Abstract |
In this paper, we studied the polarization conditions for the continuous wavelength-control of arbitrary transmission spectra in a first-order fiber birefringent filter based on a polarization-diversified loop structure(PDLS). The PDLS-based first-order fiber birefringent filter is composed of a polarization beam splitter, two combinations of a half-wave plate and a quarter-wave plate, and two polarization-maintaining fiber segments. First, we explained the polarization conditions that should be satisfied to continuously tune the wavelength of the arbitrary transmittance function of the filter. Then, using a new approach to find the orientation angles of the waveplates, those waveplate angles, which could continuously shift the wavelength of the arbitrary transmittance function, were theoretically derived. Finally, we verified that the proposed approach can be applied to the implementation of wavelength tuning of any types of transmittance functions in the PDLS-based first-order fiber birefringent filter. |
