Abstract |
To drive a magnetron used for microwave generation, a power supply which heats the cathode inside the magnetron is required. This paper describes a design and implementation of a heater power supply to heat the cathode of a magnetron. To reduce conduction loss and switching loss, the converter was designed based on the modified LCC resonant converter. To deal with the filament impedance that varies with temperature, a constant current constant voltage(CCCV) control was applied. Also, the starting peak current of the heater power supply, which is consideration to operate magnetron, was controlled by simple method. Through the PSPICE simulation and experimental results with a halogen lamp to simulate load condition, the operation of converter and CCCV and the starting peak current control were verified. |
