Abstract |
In order to meet increased demand and interest for carbon neutrality, the use of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems (ESS) in power systems has shown a noticeable increase. In power systems that operate with multiple power sources, application of a control approach that manages the power flow is necessary. This paper introduces design of a fuzzy control system for ac microgrids that consists of photovoltaic (PV) source and an ESS. The proposed fuzzy control system uses the irradiation data and load data as input variables to generate the power reference command for the PV source and ESS. In order to verify the performance of the proposed control system, a simulation was performed using MATLAB/SIMULINK. A comparison between the proposed control approach and other approaches was performed by comparing the final SOC value and the economic profit. It was shown that the proposed control approach showed satisfactory performance from a perspective of both reliability and economic effectiveness. |
