Abstract One method of demand response involves the introduction of time-of-use pricing, which enables the reduction of electricity bills through load scheduling. Industrial loads, exemplified by factory loads, are more complex in their interdependencies between tasks compared to residential or commercial loads. Particularly in cases of batch processes where a series of tasks are repetitively performed in sequence, load scheduling for such scenarios is not straightforward. This paper addresses load scheduling for short-term batch operations in factory loads using a state-task network approach. Originally, the state-task network was proposed for establishing batch operation plans to maximize the benefits from product manufacturing. However, in this paper, additional physical quantities related to load scheduling were incorporated, and the objective function of optimization was modified to suit load planning, thus transforming it into an appropriate model for load scheduling. Furthermore, the scope was expanded by introducing models related to PV generation and energy storage system(ESS). The proposed model was applied to load scheduling in batch operations composed of 5 tasks and 9 states, confirming its effectiveness.
