Abstract |
The design stage includes evaluating the costs of each alternative considered during the design process and adjusting them to align with the established budget. During this design process, cost estimates, comparisons, and adjustments need to be made swiftly within a limited timeframe, necessitating a method for efficient and precise cost management. In the current design and estimation methods, design alternatives are only validated after reaching the final design stage, with accurate estimates conducted afterward. Designers do not recognize problems such as budget overruns and design quality during the design process. The purpose of this study is to propose a continuous prediction framework for finishing construction costs that calculates the determined cost at a specific point in time and predicts the undecided cost in the dynamic process of design by combining 3D BIM and estimation knowledge. This approach enables designers to effectively choose design element entities within the BIM design environment, thereby minimizing the time and effort needed to enhance the quality of design alternatives and adjust costs. |
