JOURNAL CONTENT

1. Name of Journal

The official journal title is the Korean Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (KJCEM). The abbreviated title is Korean J Constr. Eng. Mgmt.

2. Website

The URL address of the official journal website is http://www.kjcem.org/kjcem/. The KJCEM managing team endeavors to make a good website. The KJCEM website demonstrates that care has been taken to ensure high ethical and professional standards.

  • Aims and scope:

KJCEM is the official, academic journal of the Korean Institute of Construction Engineering and Management (KICEM). It aims to promote and share knowledge on construction engineering and management for successful implementation and provision of capital assets both domestically and internationally.

The journal invites research focused on identifying and formalizing approaches to improve construction management practices in contract and tender strategies, organization structures, project cost and schedule control, and supply chain logistics. It also welcomes studies exploring emerging Information Technologies (such as Building Information Modeling, Artificial Intelligence and mobile/cloud computing), and next-generation construction technologies (including Internet of Things, Virtual and Augmented Reality, modularization, robotics and intelligent equipment) to ensure successful project delivery.

KJCEM offers a unique forum for knowledge dissemination related to the Korean AECO industry, which provide engineering and construction services to a wide range of assets including high-rise buildings, high-tech manufacturing plants (e.g., semi-conductor, biotech, etc.), and state-of-the-art infrastructure in local and global markets. Research related to these aspects and specialties should thus be of interest to both Korean and international audiences.

To achieve these aims, the journal publishes peer-reviewed original articles, review articles, and case reports, in Korean or English, bimonthly, covering theoretical foundations, empirical case developments, and novel applications of systems and technologies (http://www.kjcem.org/kjcem/AimsAndScope).

  • Readership:

KJCEM is an open-access journal publishing at the ISSN (ISSN 2005-6095, eISSN 2465-9703) and digital object identifier (DOI). It is indexed in CrossRef metadata, Korea Citation Index, and Google Scholar, and is easily available to wide international researchers. Each article provides excellent research and engineering applications related to construction engineering and management.

8. Peer Review

KJCEM has an online submission and peer review system at http://www.kjcem.org/kjcem/.

All manuscripts will be reviewed initially by the Editor-In-Chief to verify whether they meet the editorial standards of the Journal (within one week of submission). KJCEM uses a blinded peer review process. Following the initial review, each manuscript will be reviewed by three reviewers. Reviewers are qualified scholars and experts who have adequate knowledge in the field. In addition, suggested reviewers may not be at the same institution as any of the manuscript authors.

The authors’ names and affiliations are not disclosed to reviewers during the review. Only limited information would be given to a member of the editorial board if he or she is among the authors. They will not be given special treatment. An initial decision will be made, and reviewer comments will be presented to authors within 6 weeks of submission via the online submission system.

Acceptance of the manuscript is decided based on the critiques and recommended decisions of the reviewers. The reviewers are requested to identify one of four recommendations for publication: accept as is, accept with minor revisions, revision and resubmission, and reject. If two reviewers decide to reject the submission of the manuscript, it may not be considered for publication. If required, the corresponding author should resubmit a revised manuscript and indicate the alterations that have been made in response to the reviewers’ comments item by item. Failure to resubmit the revised manuscript within three months is regarded as a withdrawal. For submission of the revised manuscript, authors may contact the Editorial Board to check if it may be possible to delay submission. The reviewers should return the decisions of review for the revised manuscript within 30 days. The final decision for publication will be made by the Editor-In-Chief (http://www.kjcem.org/kjcem/EditorialPolicy).
