He received the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National Chonnam University, Republic of Korea, in 2019.

He is currently Principle Researcher at Korea Photonics Technology Institute.

His technical interests and expertise are in the field of LED package development, LED manufacturing process, and Product design.

He received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Republic of Korea, in 1979, 1981, and 1989.

Since 1987 he has been a professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Chonnam National University, Gwangju, Korea.

During 2011 and 2012 he worked as the President of Society of Electro-Physics & Application in Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers.

His research interests include characterization of SSL, lighting design and implementation for optimum lighting environment, and graphic rendering of illuminated environments.
