Abstract |
Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel inverters are essential in solar power generation systems because they help reduce voltage stress and minimize switching losses, thereby improving overall efficiency. However, faults in power semiconductor components can cause substantial damage, including system shutdowns, prompting extensive discussions on fault-tolerant strategies. Although fault-tolerant operation allows the system to continue functioning, it often results in a reduced power rating. This paper presents a new cascaded modified hybrid T-type multilevel inverter that enhances fault tolerance without reducing the power output. The structure of the proposed inverter is introduced, and its fault-tolerant operation is examined under various fault scenarios. The fault tolerance capability of the proposed inverter is also theoretically analyzed and experimentally validated. |
