| Abstract |
As the demands for electrification of high-power devices such as ships and spaceships increase, multi-phase motors have been widely studied due to their high power density, low torque ripple, and fault tolerance. To improve the reliability of electrification systems, sensorless control has been researched according to various physical principles. SMA (sliding mode algorithm) is one of the most renowned methods due to its robustness to parameter variation, disturbance, and fast dynamic response. However, SMA suffers from its chronic matter called the chattering phenomenon, which deteriorates the performance of the system. To reduce the chattering phenomenon and enhance the performance of SMA, this paper proposes a control technique for a sensorless drive system of DTP-PMSM (dual three-phase-permanent magnet synchronous motor) based on STSMA (super twisting sliding mode algorithm). VSD (vector space decomposition) transform is applied to construct modeling of the DTP-PMSM. STSMA is applied to B-EMF (back-electromotive force) observer and speed controller for a robust sensorless drive system without chattering. The performance of the proposed sensorless drive system has been validated by experimental results. |
